Volunteer Education Committee

 

Goals – This committee is formed by dedicated volunteers willing to serve the temple and community with its learning and educational needs.

Here are the objectives:

  • To create a learning community about Indian heritage and values.
  • To bring the virtues of Hindu philosophy, moral and spiritual values to the present and future generation
  • To build relevant proficiency of Indian regional languages among children so they interact and connect with their roots
  • To introduce the old and time-tested tools and techniques of mathematic skills to the community to enhance their knowledge
  • To encourage and recognize the enthusiastic student volunteers to engage in community service
  • To improve the well-being of the children and adults by engaging in the rejuvenating techniques of yoga, meditation and other relevant workshops

Committee Chair: Ashwini Gangadharan

Committee Meeting Schedule – Recurring third Sunday of the month (additional meetings as per committee needs)

Lead Coordinators will be in-charge of each of the major functions of the committee

Membership eligibility – All volunteers above 12 years, who are interested in contributing towards the community are welcome to choose the sub-committees/groups as per their ability and interest

 

Roles and Responsibilities
Lead Technology and Software coordinator will be responsible to care of the technical requirements of the committee. Will coordinate with IT Team regarding any technical and software related requirements
Lead Student volunteering and Adult engagement coordinator will be responsible for any student volunteer related requests, assigning them responsibilities, providing them with relevant documents when needed. The coordinator will also work on arranging educational workshops for adults.
Lead Indian Culture and awareness coordinator – will be responsible for all educational needs related to culture. The coordinator will work closely with volunteers who are interested in teaching this. Additionally, the coordinator will work with Temple Cultural committee and Religious committee to organize educational activities when needed, especially during events and festivals
Lead Religion and Spirituality coordinator – will be responsible for all educational needs related to Hindu philosophy, epics and values. The coordinator will work closely with the Religious committee to organize classes and educational activities
Lead Mathematics coordinator– will be responsible to coordinate and arrange resources required for math classes for students.
Lead Language coordinator – will be responsible to coordinate with other respective language coordinators and organize the language classes
Language Coordinators – Each language will have a language coordinator who will be responsible for organizing the classes and activities the respective languages. You will be coordinating with the Lead language coordinator to work on scheduling the language classes and activities.
Lead Yoga and Meditation coordinator– will be responsible to coordinate with the existing and new instructors to organize yoga and meditation classes and workshops for children and adults.
