1. Gruhapravesham Pooja

Required Pooja Materials

  • Turmeric powder – 1 small packet
  • Kumkum – 1 small packet
  • Sandalwood powder – 1 small tin
  • Betel leaves – 10
  • Betel nuts – 10
  • Coconuts – 4
  • Fruits – 6 varieties
  • Flowers
  • Limes – 5
  • Kalasam (provided by temple)
  • Vastram for kalasam – 1 towel and blouse piece
  • Rice – 2 lbs
  • Incense sticks – 1 packet
  • Match box
  • Deepa aradhana materials (lamp, oil, cotton wicks)
  • Aluminum trays – 4
  • Ghee – 1 lb
  • Navadhanyam – 1 set
  • White mustard seeds (for Vastu Homam only)
  • Preferred deity pictures
  • Dry coconut pieces (copra) – 3
  • Coins – any denomination (10 coins)
  • Prasadam (Kesari or Sarkara Pongal)
  • Napkins
  • Sugar – 1 lb
  • Milk – 1 gallon

Preparation Tips

  • Please arrange all pooja materials before the priest arrives.
  • Wash and prepare all fruits, betel leaves, mango leaves, and coconuts beforehand.
  • Prepare the deepam and keep it ready for lighting.
  • Separate flowers from bunches before the pooja begins.
  • Place turmeric powder, kumkum, akshata, and sandalwood powder in small cups.
  • Please clean and wash all coconuts beforehand.

2. Satyanarayan Pooja

Required Pooja Materials

  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 lb
  • Kumkum – 1 packet
  • Sandalwood paste/powder – 1 packet
  • Incense sticks – 1 packet
  • Betel leaves and nuts – approximately 30
  • Flowers – 4 bunches
  • Fruits – 12 bananas and 5 additional varieties
  • Coconuts – 7
  • Rice – 4 lbs
  • Kalasa vasthram – 1 red or green blouse piece
  • Milk – 1/4 gallon
  • Yogurt – 1 cup
  • Honey – 1 small bottle
  • Ghee – 1/2 lb
  • Sugar – 1 packet
  • Dates (Karjur) – 1 packet
  • Prasadam of your choice (Rava Kesari recommended)
